We work with carefully selected manufacturers and factories across Europe who share our philosophy of making clothes designed to last. Our clothes are produced in Portugal, Italy, Romania and Wales, as well as an atelier in London, each partner chosen to create the perfect look and feel for each item.

Fabric is integral to each and every Carter Young collection. Our pieces are not precious and are made to be worn. Our core ranges are mainly cut from natural fibers, with many featuring vintage washes for a broken-in feel. Whenever possible, we employ responsible production methods, from small-scale runs to using deadstock materials left over from other companies' excess.

Each collection begins with an intensive research process that spans film, literature, ephemera, and music. A song, photo, or painting may become the keystone for a capsule as we translate an intangible idea into the wider collection. These ideas inform every aspect of the collection, including fabrics, colors, textures, and visuals. They also play an integral role in our process, helping to contextualize our creative explorations.
